Hamburg/Munich: This year the Jungheinrich ERC 216zi stacker truck is awarded with the internationally renowned iF Design Award. The vehicle is the most compact truck in its class. Thanks to its integrated lithium-ion battery, the ERC 216zi is particularly compact and agile. Jungheinrich has significantly shortened the truck's length by eliminating the battery trough between the operator's platform and the mast, which was previously common in such trucks. With an L2 dimension of 1245 mm, the ERC 216zi is at least 170 mm shorter than comparable trucks and is thus by far the most compact electric stacker truck on the market. This also impressed the jury, who honored the ERC 216zi with the iF Design Award in the category Automobiles/Vehicles. The iF Design Award was first presented in 1953 and is considered the oldest independent design award.

Jungheinrich Board Member for Marketing and Sales Christian Erlach says: "Sometimes you have to take a completely different approach and that is exactly what we have done with the ERC 216zi. The built-in lithium-ion battery creates a revolutionary vehicle design. The ERC 216zi is ultra-compact and extremely agile. It is the perfect truck in narrow warehouse environments where our customers still want to reach impressive heights".

Protection from all sides

In the development of the ERC 216zi, Jungheinrich paid special attention to the ergonomics of the truck. A fixed stand-on platform offers the driver support and comfort. This is an important advantage for the driver, especially during long periods of operation. The operating elements are arranged in such a way that they allow intuitive control of the truck. The completely redesigned smartPILOT electric tiller steering allows precise and easy steering with one hand. A 4-inch display level with the instrument cover provides a clear overview. The new storage system also allows the operator to set up his workplace individually. The new ERC 216zi also sets standards in terms of safety. The overhead guard according to DIN ISO 6055 protects against falling objects. The fixed stand-on platform with its fixed side walls additionally offers the operator perfect all-round protection from three sides.
